FAQ FOR PRODUCERS
Yes! CertiPUR has a global outreach. You can join the ever-growing list of participating companies from all around the world.
A CertiPUR label holder is a foam producer that has their foams certified and compliant with the stringent CertiPUR standards. An Authorised User of the CertiPUR logo is a manufacturer of bedding / upholstered furniture who purchases certified foam from a label holder and has the authorisation to use the logo only on products that were produced exclusively with certified foam.
By downloading the CertiPUR Technical Paper and filling the Application Form therein. This document provides more information on the procedure to apply for the CertiPUR label and lists substances that are prohibited or restricted under CertiPUR. You will then be listed on our website as a CertiPUR label holder. Applications can be sent by email to a.bukeye@europur.org.
If you are a foam distributor, bedding manufacturer or upholstered furniture manufacturer using CertiPUR certified foams, you can register free of charge and be part of the List of Authorised Users of the CertiPUR logo on our website.
You will need to download and fill the Customer Verification Form. You will also have to send a copy of your supplier’s CertiPUR certificate (in pdf format). Contact your foam supplier to obtain the document.
Once the office has received the documents, we will add the company to the list of Authorized Users of the CertiPUR logo and send the logo with your company’s unique reference number. This procedure will have to be renewed at least once every three years. Applications and further questions can be sent by email to a.bukeye@europur.org.
CertiPUR and CertiPUR-US are two different voluntary testing, analysis and certification programmes for polyurethane foam used in bedding and upholstered furniture applications; CertiPUR being the common European standard while the latter is the American one. Their determined limit values differ due to different regulatory environments. In addition to that, CertiPUR-US also requires mechanical testing.
Another distinction between CertiPUR and CertiPUR-US is the fact that CertiPUR-US costs significantly more. The choice of applying to our label or the US one depends on the regions one wants to address most. Some companies apply to both.
In terms of taking environment and health considerations for flexible slabstock and moulded polyurethane foam into account, CertiPUR sets the most stringent standard for its label holders. CertiPUR means the guarantee of polyurethane foams up to European standards and safe from harmful substances, which is a growing concern for consumers.
As an Authorised User, if you want to use the CertiPUR logo in accordance to our terms of use, you need to make sure that:
- You only apply it to products containing 100% CertiPUR certified foam (the products listed on your company’s entry on our website).
- You specify that only the foam is certified and guaranteed to be free from harmful substances. This label does not apply to entire finished products such as mattresses or pillows.
- Each time that your foam supplier renews its CertiPUR label (once every three years, the renewal date is written on your supplier’s Recognition of Approval), you need to redo this process to continue being an Authorised User of the CertiPUR logo and appear on our website.
- As a distributor, you don’t need a special permission to use CertiPUR logo on your website, though it is kind of you to let us know.
- You can also attach the logo to the listed products or add it to the manuals that accompany it, though it is up to you to decide if you want to include it or not.
Being a member of EUROPUR gives you a significant discount on the price of application as there is no entry fee!
FAQ FOR CONSUMERS
CertiPUR means proof of conformity of polyurethane foam with existing legislation but also with the latest scientific knowledge on substances used in formulations in order to minimize any impact on consumer’s health and the environment.
CertiPUR meets these expectations through a clear commitment to avoid or limit strictly the presence of any potentially harmful substance in flexible polyurethane foams. In this approach, it even stays ahead of evolving EU legislation.
No. EUROPUR only issues the label, we do not produce foam or manufacture bedding or furniture. If you are looking for a company selling products containing 100% certified foam, you can go over to the Authorised Users section of our website.
Moreover, there is no such thing as a CertiPUR mattress. This label only guarantees the foam, not the rest of the components of the mattress nor the entire product.
Yes, as we have participating companies from all over the world. You can look into our list of Authorised Users of the CertiPUR logo and see which company is closest to your region.
